New rules will be introduced at the end of 2015 to ensure BC home buyers ebenefit from a more consistent approach to property inspections.

Consumer Protection BC will take a bigger role in licensing property inspectors by:

-setting new education and training requirements

-establishing standard testing and evaluation

-implementing provincial inspection standards and a common code of ethics

-taking on an expanded compliance and enforcement role

BC and Alberta are the only two Provinces to regulate home inspectors

Canadian manufacturing sales rose 1.7 per cent in December in spite of a 9.3 per cent fall in sales of petroleum products. Sales were higher in 17 of 21 manufacturing sub-sectors and were 8.6% higher year over year.
In BC, manufacturing employs close to 170,000 people,  manufacturing sales rose 2.9 cent on a monthly basis in December

For all of 2014, BC manufacturing sales grew at a robust rate of 6.7 per cent, the fastest rate of growth since 2011. A continued upswing in manufacturing sales should result in increased  employment and home purchases.

There has been a fundamental switch in how Mainland Chinese investors invest their money in Vancouver and BC. Instead of buying a number of houses, they are now buying income producing budinesses - hotels, wineries,ghost towns which are being turned into resorts and mineral water.

The idea is to create a job for their kids who have been educated in Vancouver and selected not to return to China.

I believe this will now keep the Vancouver house prices flat, or we may see a dip.
